Jesús Esperanza Fernández

Master of Fencing from the "Spanish Academy of Weapon Masters," specialist in Stage Fencing, and scholar of Ancient and Historical Fencing.

Born in Madrid, he began practicing fencing at the age of 11, winning 7 Spanish Championships in individual foil, and was a member of the Spanish National Team in 10 World Championships and Olympic Games in Moscow, Seoul, and Barcelona. He has been the Coach of the Spanish National Foil Team. He created his own Fencing School, "Escuela de Esgrima Ateneo," of which he is currently the President and Master.

In Stage Fencing, he developed a teaching methodology for actors and actresses, offering courses since 2000 and collaborating in the design and staging of fencing choreographies for various film, theatre, and opera productions.

He has worked under the direction of renowned stage directors: Antonio Simón (Coriolanus), Pilar Massa (Es peligroso asomarse al exterior), Lluys Pascual (The Knight of Olmedo), Andrés Lima (Falstaff), Miguel del Arco (Hamlet), Tomaz Pandur (Hamlet), Agustín Díaz Llanes (Alatriste), Manuel Iborra (La Dama Boba), Lluys Pascual (Tristan and Isolde), Víctor Conde (The Last Rider), Joan Lluys Bozzo (Scaramouche), Juan Carlos Rubio (The Nun Captain), Carma Portacelli (The Two Bandoleras), Helena Pimenta (Agravios, The Mayor of Zalamea, The Lady Ghost), Alberto Castrillo Ferrer (Cyrano), David Macvica (Gloriana, D. Carlo), Francisco Negrín (Il Trovatore), Beatriz Argüello (Valor, Agravio y Mujer), and more.
