Manolo Ramírez

Manolo Ramírez was born in Alicante in 1977. After completing his studies in image and sound, he worked as a freelance professional for various sound and lighting companies. During this period, he contributed to theatre, dance, circus, and event productions.

In theatre, he developed his skills as a lighting technician for the company Animalario and served as Technical Director for Cristina Rota’s company, La Trócola, and the musical El Médico, among many others.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with directors such as Andrés Lima, Will Keen, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta. His early experience in lighting design began as an assistant to Valentín Álvarez, Juanjo Llorens, and Dominique Borrini, working on productions for Animalario, the National Drama Centre (CDN), Teatro Español, and Metatarso Producciones.

As a lighting designer, he has created designs for musicals, opera, theatre, dance, and circus, for both small and large-scale productions, including projects at Teatro Español, the Valencian Institute of Culture, and various theatre companies.

In 2021, he won the Broadway World Spain Award for Best Lighting Design for the musical Who Killed Sherlock Holmes?.
